Kay Bishop is a graphic designer, graphic arts instructor, and a children’s art teacher. She currently teaches through the Graphic Arts & Imaging Technology (GAIT) program at Appalachian State University (ASU). She earned her BFA in Visual Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. She was an art director for a magazine in Chicago for 5 years and has worked in graphic design for over 15 years in a variety of fields, including editorial publishing, marketing, print, and web. She developed a PreK–12 children’s art education program and previously taught at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts.
She is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Educational Media, with a concentration in New Media Literacies and Global Perspectives at ASU and is a Joe Murphy Educational Media Fellowship recipient. She is passionate about inspiring students of all ages to create art and design in multimodal and multicultural contexts.
