We are pleased to announce the first Semester at Penland Program will happen in the Fall of 2019! 

This semester-length program combines Appalachian State coursework with an 8-week Concentration at the Penland School of Craft. Led by Associate Professor IlaSahai Prouty, this 15-credit program will provide an immersive creative experience designed to deepen and contextualize student artistic practice.

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • focus deeply on making work
  • develop excellence in their work
  • build a personal creative practice and understand their motivations
  • work in the manner their future profession requires
  • understand the impact their work can have personally and in their field
  • build lasting professional connections with instructors and classmates

The application period closes March 15th at 5pm.

Scholarships, Financial Aid, and Work-Study positions are available.

The Penland School of Crafts is a prestigious, international craft school in Bakersville, NC.  The Concentration program is unique in the country, providing focused workshops in first class studios.
