Taekyeom Lee, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, traveled to Antwerp, Belgium to conduct a workshop and give a presentation at the ATypI 2018 conference. ATypI, the Association Typographique Internationale, is an international non-profit organization dedicated to typography and type design. The ATypI 2018 program was carefully curated by a diverse group of experts from a range of typographic fields, inviting attendees to explore a wide range of contemporary and historical topics from around the globe.
Lee’s half-day workshop “Machine typography” and presentation, “Multi-dimensional Typography Education with Digital Fabrication” were the result of a Graphic Design Special Topics course he taught in the fall of 2017. The course provided students with opportunities to transfer design principles into new typographic experiences within multi-dimensional space and materialize their ideas with digital fabrication technologies.
