Art Minor
Students wishing to minor in art have three options:
- An art minor with portfolio review which offers a broader range of course offerings including more studio courses
- An art minor without portfolio review which offers both studio and art history courses
- A minor in art history
Minor in Studio Art with Portfolio Review
A minor in art for students who have passed FOUNDATIONS PORTFOLIO REVIEW consists of 18 semester hours. Courses include Art 1001 Foundations I, Art 1002 Foundations II, Art 1003 Foundations Drawing and 9 s.h. chosen from Art 2011 Art Introduction, any STUDIO ART course and/or any ART HISTORY course.
Minor in Studio Art without Portfolio Review
A minor in art for students who have not passed Foundations Portfolio Review consists of 18 hours. Courses include Art 1011 Design Fundamentals I, Art 1012 Design Fundamentals II, Art 1013 Drawing Fundamentals and 9 s.h. chosen from Art 2011 Art Introduction, Art 2016 Art for Non-Majors, Art 2022 Cultivating Creativity Through Art and/or any art history course.
Minor in Art History
A minor in art history consists of 18 semester hours. Students are required to take the two art history survey courses and the Seminar in Art Criticism and Theory. In addition, art history minors choose nine semester hours of ART HISTORY electives.
