Research/Lab Operations Manager
Adam Adcock is the Research and Lab Operations Manager for the Department of Art. Adam is responsible for overseeing the daily physical operations of the various studios and classrooms. He is involved in repairs and maintenance for all studio equipment, implementing safety training and policies for faculty and students, and general building management duties such as key control, space planning / usage, and coordinating with ASU Physical Plant for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general construction needs. He truly enjoys the variety of projects that each day brings, as well as constantly learning new information about how things work. He has a love for tools and fixing broken things.
Adam is a mixed-media sculptor in his very limited free time. He has a BFA (2002) from ASU, and an MFA (2007) from East Carolina University. He enjoys being around an environment of creative energy, and loves to share information with colleagues and students. His works range in scale from hand-held to large outdoor public works, but most are somewhere in-between. He creates mostly non-representational sculptures because he greatly enjoys the freedom to appeal directly to the viewer’s imagination and visual associations. The materials that are most common to his sculptures are steel, wood, cast metals (iron, bronze, aluminum), concrete, fiberglass, clay, stone, and other natural found elements.
