Against the Grain – Joshua White

During White's OCSA in the fall of  2019, he began working on a project to document contemporary makers of varying practices in Appalachia. He will present some of the images made during his time away and welcome suggestions on readings, authors, photographers, or others who are wrestling with contemporary depictions of Appalachia. White desires to use antiquated, hand-crafted processes to document others doing the same, while presenting a contemporary view of Appalachia that avoids presenting stereotypes of the region.
